This holiday season, The Yard Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles is transformed into a vibrant spectacle of light and celebration with Grand Illuminations, an immersive light installation by Liquid PXL. From December 4, 2024, through January 8, 2025, The Yard at Cal Plaza (350 S. Grand Avenue) becomes a glowing destination for all ages to enjoy.

Neptune’s Luminous Dance is a monumental, immersive light sculpture inspired by the elegant motion of seaweed swaying underwater. Rising from the earth like an illuminated underwater forest, the piece is composed of 160 hand-bent steel tubes—each standing 19 feet tall and finished in a shimmering silvery powder coat that captures and reflects sunlight during the day.

This commissioned public art sculpture was designed by Lolo Garner and created at the Liquid PXL fabrication shop was crafted from precision laser-cut steel and finished with environmentally friendly acrylic paints in a vibrant, otherworldly color palette. Its architectural design creates a walkable space beneath its wings, encouraging visitors to move through and interact with the piece.

Peace Arrow is a monumental 24-foot-tall immersive light sculpture, conceived by artist Mathew Rosenblatt and skillfully realized in collaboration with Liquid PXL. The installation features a prominent peace sign anchored by a 50-foot-long broken arrow—merging form and meaning to create a striking visual metaphor for the hope of a more peaceful and unified future.

Wish Girl is a stunning 42-foot-tall illuminated immersive sculpture depicting the profile of a girl blowing a field of glowing Electric Dandelions. Commissioned by Firefly Music Festival for their 2022 event, this large-scale installation became a powerful visual centerpiece near the main stage. Surrounding her were 27 Electric Dandelions and a radiant “WISH” sign, creating a whimsical and dreamlike environment in the middle of the forest.

The Nest Stage is an immersive light installation that merges music, geometry, and nature into a unified visual experience. At its heart is a custom DJ booth lined with over 80 vertically mounted light tubes, arranged to mimic the form of a sound wave across the facade—bringing rhythm and light together in perfect sync.

The River of Lights is a commissioned light installation for the 2022 Firefly Music Festival. 160 light tubes create an overhead river of light that stretched 180ft. We elevated this LED sculpture with a custom netting that we rigged to the tree canopy above a walking path that connected the Main Stage area to the Nest Stage. This LED light tube installation is a modern, modular design and is highly dynamic in its lighting programming.

We were commissioned to build two giant, low-poly, legs for 2021 Megan The Stallion's BET Awards live performance. Each leg measured 25ft in length and 9ft tall and only weighed 400bls each.

Life Puzzle is a 15ft tall steel, symbol of an Ankh (life). This light sculpture was originally built for Burning Man in 2019 and then made its way to the Toronto Light Festival. This light art installation was designed and commissioned by Mathew Rosenblatt and fabricated by Liquid PXL.
